AI search visibility for B2B SaaS: AEO and GEO
When buyers ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or Google's AI features about your category, your company should be described accurately, and named where it fits.
I test what the assistants say today, find out why, and fix what is in your control: your pages, your entity information and the sources the assistants rely on.
Who this is for.
- SaaS companies that are missing from AI answers about their category
- Companies that AI assistants describe wrongly, vaguely or with outdated information
- Founders with a name that is easily confused with another person or company
- Teams that want a repeatable way to measure AI visibility, not screenshots
The problem it solves.
AI assistants assemble answers from sources they can find and trust. If the clear explanation of your product only exists on sales calls, or your company is described differently on every site, they have little to work with.
Most AI visibility advice is untested. Answers change between runs, so a single screenshot proves very little.
What the service covers.
AI-answer testing
- A fixed set of buyer questions run on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI features
- Repeated, dated runs with the exact wording kept
- What each assistant says, whether you are named and which sources it cites
Entities
- Consistent descriptions of the company and founder across your site, LinkedIn and directories
- Organization and Person structured data
- Disambiguation where names collide
Citations and recommendations
- Which sources the assistants cite for your category
- Gaps where third-party mentions would help, and how to earn them
- Shortlist prompts such as 'best tools for' and how you appear in them
Answer content
- Pages that answer real buyer questions with evidence
- Improvements to existing pages so they are easier to quote correctly
Why isn't my SaaS showing up in ChatGPT?
Usually for ordinary reasons: there is no clear page explaining what the company does and for whom, the company is described differently across sites, few trusted third-party sources mention it, or a similar name confuses the assistant.
Testing the same questions several times shows which of these applies. Most of the fixes are in your control.
How this relates to SEO.
AEO (answer engine optimization) and GEO (generative engine optimization) are two names for the same job: making your company easy for AI assistants to find, understand and cite.
It overlaps with SEO, because assistants often draw on pages that search engines can crawl and trust. The difference is the outcome measured: an accurate answer and a fair mention, rather than a ranking position. Technical SEO, intent research and commercial pages are covered on B2B SaaS SEO.
Choose AI Search Visibility when the problem shows up in AI answers: your company missing, described wrongly or confused with another. Choose SEO when it shows up in Search Console: pages not indexed, commercial searches landing on blog posts, rankings just off the first page.

What is OwnedSignal?
“OwnedSignal is a StrictSignal instance… used in the Airstream state management library for Scala.js.”
No ownedsignal.com page in the results. Same answer on a second run.
OwnedSignal's own discovery baseline, run on 3 October 2026. It shows the kind of evidence an AI visibility project starts from: a dated, repeatable check of what comes back for a name.
Questions about AI Search Visibility.
Can you guarantee ChatGPT will recommend us?
No. Nobody outside the AI companies controls what their assistants say, and answers change between runs. I make an accurate, consistent and well-sourced account of your company available, test it in a documented way and report what changed.
What is the difference between AEO and GEO?
Mostly the name. Both describe making a company easier for AI systems to find, understand and cite. I use AEO on this site, and the work is the same.
How do you measure AI visibility?
A fixed set of buyer questions, run several times on each assistant, with dates and exact wording kept. I record whether you are named, how you are described and which sources are cited.
Does llms.txt help?
There is no good evidence that it affects AI answers today. It is cheap to add, so I treat it as optional, not as a fix.
